Homestay, B&B policy to make more room for heritage tourism

In order to focus on the tourism potential of heritage residences that showcase Indo-Portuguese architecture, the state cabinet has approved the Homestay and Bed and Breakfast (B&B) policy. The policy will be implemented in the following seven talukas – Sattari, Dharbandora, Sanguem, Bicholim, Ponda, Quepem, and Canacona.

The policy will be applicable to all homestay/B&B establishments that fall under the existing occupancy rules, acts, and bylaws. However, the main goal of the policy is to promote tourism in the rural areas. Therefore, the fiscal incentives will only be granted to the existing or future homestay and B&B establishments in the seven talukas.
